Well, my first Blog Post for our new website………exciting and daunting all rolled into one small body of text.

In the coming months, I hope to share with you interesting pieces of information regarding the funeral industry, death care and my family business in general.

Murphy Family Funerals is a business started by my parents and now carried on by myself and my family.  I am extremely proud of the work undertaken (see what I did there!!) by my team and the contribution we make to our community and the families we serve.  It really is a privilege to be the person, or the business, that people turn to in some of their darkest and most difficult days.

Funerals are not always sad occasions though.  I hope to be able to share with you some of our most interesting and unusual funeral services that we assist our families in providing.  To show you some of the rituals and customs that surround death in other cultures and to cast an eye toward the future of funerals in our digital age.

My industry and business has been quite cloistered and shrouded in secrecy for many years, it is a shame really as I think it is one of the most wonderful careers to be involved in.  I hope to open the door for you, to show you behind the scenes, to introduce you to my staff, our suppliers, and the people that you might cross when you inevitable cross the door of ours, or someone else’s funeral home.

Death touches us all.  Talking about death has never made someone die any quicker than usual, but it does allow us to provide more relevant and carefully considered plans for our own death when it does eventually come.  Like many of the important ‘chats’ in our life.  It may be uncomfortable and a little awkward at first, but when we finally accept the conversation as a natural part of life, I hope we will be able to provide EXACTLY the kind of funeral service that your family can be justifiably proud to say, ‘That was the perfect funeral for him/her’.

Thanks for reading.

Kindest

C.
