There are so many things I remember like it was only yesterday.. taking me fishing (losing rods as well as sinkers hooks and getting stuck on the rocks which doesn't sound like much unless you remember my dad hated getting wet and could not swim)...
Taking me and the grandkids prawning with up to five of us chasing a single prawn.. we never got many but it was always fun.
He was forever repurposing things, many a time we went to the tip with half a trailer load and came home with it full... One day when I worked at a boatbuilding factory someone said look there is a tramp going through the skip bin. Another colleague looked and said oh no that's just Donna dad looking for scraps of wood.
Many days I spent helping him in his shed, listening to Irish folk music, he loved the fly and Aon focal ailie along with the more traditional songs like Belfast mill.
I have seen nearly all John Wayne movies and know some by heart, same goes for M.A.S.H episodes.
He never liked veggies (except potato of course lol) and used to swap me carrot for kidney when mum wasn't looking.
He was always after a get rich quick scheme and we went gold panning and rock collecting.
He is my dad, pop, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather and will remain in our hearts and souls forever xx
