Frank Isaac, who very recently passed away aged 91, had a long association with Shoalhaven Rugby Football Club. He was President for 8 years (2005-2012) and previous to that was not only Treasurer and Team Manager for a number of years but also, until recent years, was the Club’s most successful coach. Frank coached Under U15s (1987), U18’s (1988), U19s (1991) and Second Grade (1985 undefeated) teams to Premierships. He also coached or co coached several other teams during his coaching career.
During his time as a Committee Member Frank was dedicated to the Club’s welfare. He was extremely approachable and diligent as President and during his time as Treasurer the Club’s financial position was positive.
Frank was a rugby man through and through and it is believed that he was still playing Golden Oldies rugby at the age of 80. Frank and his late wife Sylvia were tireless workers and supporters of Shoalhaven Rugby in all facets over many years and were rightly recognised by being jointly awarded “Clubman of The Year” trophy in 2008. While Frank steered the Club towards the Club’s initial First Grade Premiership, Sylvia, amongst other Club activities, ran an extremely efficient and profitable canteen. Fittingly Frank was made a Life Member of SRFC.
Frank was respected in all rugby circles. His contribution to Shoalhaven Rugby Football Club was huge, not only in executive and coaching positions but as man with a sense of humour and a smile and whose company was always a pleasure.
