My Darling Brother Neville
We have just watched your funeral service on livestream and through my tears I recalled many wonderful visits you made on your daily walk past in William Street, of the cuttings we exchanged from our gardens and the love we shared as Brother and Sister.
Until we meet again, All my love
Judith and Bob Bodel

They say smells are a strong memory trigger and one smell that always takes me straight back to a specific time and place is the smell of the perfumed water my Uncle Neville would spray to dampen my hair while he was cutting it in his barbers shop.
I would always look forward to it as a child as I loved the smell, and I was relived he was still using it years later after he had retired and I had moved away.
I have no idea what the ingredient was that he would add to the water, and I have tried to replicate it a few times since, unfortunately without any success, but that smell will always bring back fond memories for me as a young child covered in a barbers sheet, sitting on a padded block of wood placed across the arms of his barbers chair so I was high enough to see into the mirrors, watching and listening to his scissors furiously and skilfully snipping away while he talked to me.
Rest in peace Uncle Neville and thank you!

Dear Cousins Karen, Kim, Angela, Brigid & Damian and loving Edna,
Your dear dad "Uncle Neville" to me was the smiling uncle - always ready to share an anecdote or wisdom - particularly on how to grow the best rhubarb. Many fond memories of Neville taking the time to chat with my mum on our visits to Bathurst. Sending our love and deepest sympathy to you today as we farewell a splendid man with a wonderful sense of self.
Rest in peace Neville.
Awaken your spirit to adventure,
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you. JO'D

My condolences and thoughts to Edna and Nevilles family. My greatest memories of Nev were funny moments during his home help visits. He hated getting out of bed some mornings and he use to say to Edna, "Who let her in?" And when I'd leave some days, I'd say I'll see you tomorrow and his reply would be," I hope not". I always left laughing as it was all said in fun. It was a real pleasure to have been able to work with him and help Edna in those hard times. RIP Nev, you were one of a kind.xx
