I look back with fond memories of going to the Rugby League with my dad and Laurie, Cecile, Brendan and Nigel and cheering for our team the Manly Seaeagles.
Laurie was such a character; there was often banter with opposing teams' supporters (especially one eyed Paramatta Eels fans!) and by the end of an especially close or intense game, Laurie's program was much the worse for wear...a little inside joke there!
When at school with Cecile, Laurie seemed to me a strong, silent type but as the years went by and I became older, I could see Laurie had a good heart and really cared for Cecile and wanted her to be happy above all - even if it meant her going to live on the other side of the world in France.
Rest in peace Laurie.
