Our Darling Mel
We are in disbelief you have said goodbye to your beautiful family and friends. Where do we begin with all our memories, Holidays at Little Wobby, Batemans Bay Houseboat and of course our cruise to Cairns (which probably cured you for any further cruising for life as it was so rough!!) but still managed to have a few drinks. We will miss your smile and your ability to have a conversation on any subject. You were an amazing friend ( We only wished we lived closer).and your love and devotion to your family and business were so special. I know Jono will be OK with all the love and support of your 5 children and grandchildren such a beautiful close family. Rest in peace sweetie.

To Uncle John and all the Gildea family. We were all so shocked and sad at the news about Imelda. We loved to see you when you came back to Ireland. John was like the paid piper with children taking his hand to go to the shop for lollies. It did not matter if they never met him before. Imelda would laugh and tell us funny stories from the wonderful life you built together in Australia. She was so proud of all of you and was a great story teller. She will be missed a lot. We will remember her fondly in our prayers. Imelda, rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to my brother John, his family and extended family at this very sad time.
My children and grandchildren got to know and love you both on your frequent visits home and your many phone calls over the years. We will never forget your kindness to us especially when my late husband Pat was on a business trip to Kuwait and found himself and four colleagues " Guests of Saddam Hussein " in Kuwait and Bagdad in 1990. During those 80 very stressful days John rang me every single day bringing so much comfort to us all. When he was eventually granted an exit visa in Bagdad there were no communication lines to Europe so he rang Hemmings Crescent. The euphoria in our house on getting Mel's "I have great news for you " phone.call was in such sheer contrast to the utter sadness on getting John's call when Mel was admitted to hospital so recently and the calls since. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Rest in Peace, Dear Mel.
