A sad day to realize 'Uncle Mike' has really gone. My lifelong memory will be of a very generous and warm hearted uncle. We rarely met our Australian family but well remember Michael for his kindness, gentle humor and humanity. It seems he left a profoundly positive impression on all he knew. From Paul & Celine and Keira and Sean, our deepest condolences to our extended family in Australia.

To my dearest cousins. I wish that I could have been there today to celebrate the incredible life of my Uncle / Godfather, Michael Rice.
Uncle Michael created memories every day for the most precious in his life. He had a deep love for his family that was unconditional.
Uncle Michael always created a feeling of calm for me, whenever I would visit, which was fairly often. He would encourage me and somehow make you feel that I had a special place in his heart, almost exclusively.
I know he was very proud of you all, so many different personalities, but each of you so individual and special.
Uncle Michael will be missed so very much, but his memory will continue on and celebrated every day, especially on certain occasions.
I have peace knowing that he has been reunited with his beautiful wife and soul mate, Rosaleen.
I will always love you. May you Rest In Peace

Michael was a warm and kind, much loved man. I have fond memories of family gatherings at the Rice family home in Berkeley and being greeted by the giant smiles of Michael and Rosaleen. They were always so welcoming and generous.
He will be missed and lives on in our memories.

Michael was an uncle to so many of us here in Ireland and beyond. A true gentle man, funny, loving and so charismatic. Always one for playing tricks and telling truly hilarious stories. In my memory he is always smiling and laughing with his truly beautiful sole mate Rosaleen. Together they lit up every family gathering.
Rest in peace Uncle Michael.

Michael was one of the most decent people I’ve ever known. A rock solid, hard working family man who strove tirelessly, in providing for his late wife Rosaleen and their six children.
I remember him as a gentle man who enjoyed company and took great pleasure in gatherings of family and friends, especially those in the Irish community, on occasion entertaining the party with one of his songs.
Michael and Rosaleen, and the first three of their six children, migrated to Australia in 1962 and soon moved into a house in Berkeley. So deep were the roots they put down there that there they remained for the rest of their married life. And there they became so well known and liked in their local parish and community, that their company was equally sought by the clergy and fellow parishioners.
Michael was much loved, and was respected by all who knew him, or who had anything to do with him. He and Rosaleen brought up a remarkable family, Gerard, Deirdre, Paul, Eddy, Brendan and Mairead, each of whom have done their parents proud. And they, in turn, provided their parents with six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
I regret that Carole and I did not see more of Michael in his later years. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
