Dearest Voi,
You were a light that shined so bright. A fond memory is when you offered to teach me to play my ukulele and remembering how much you made me smile each day while I cared for you. You are truly someone I will never forget and had the pleasure of having many wonderful conversations. My deepest condolences goes out to your family and friends and may your soul fly forever high above the clouds xo

To Voi
My memories are of you are not a story
They are a constant spark of warmth and glory
A soul I remember for everything that mattered
Someone who loved the world – unfettered
Voi – my precious other Mum
A role you accepted for everyone
The home you managed where the world could enter
The dreams you helped us create, as our mentor
Those beautiful sounds we heard in your singing
The wonderful dreams you helped us believe in
It is your time now to hold hands again with Stu
It is our time now to celebrate an Angel - it is you!
With all my love, Noelene

I have many warm and wonderful memories of time spent with Voi (and Stuart) in the late 70's. She holds a very special place in my heart for her genuine care, many kindnesses, life truths and laughter, her joyous spirit and her sparkling eyes. My heartfelt condolences to the wider Hunter family at this time.

It is with great sadness that I hear of the passing of such a beautiful soul. As a young person working in Taumarunui I was frequently at the Hunters home on hospital hill My younger sister Noelene boarded with them when she worked at the County Council office. She and I often ‘baby sat’ whilst Stuart and Voi were out. I remember her coaching and mentoring of Todd and Marc when they were young lads….. around 10 yrs of age…. playing and composing music. Voi was elegant, softly spoken ….a true lady in all things.
My love and prayers to her family. Until we meet again, beautiful….may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Beloved Voi- our ‘other mother’ - devoted friend of Bertha Carter (deceased, 12/6/23) and family, Taumarunui. Fondest memories of Voi’s love and support throughout my Taumarunui childhood and beyond when she and Stuart moved north to Glenfield, Auckland, and Parua bay. Voi embodied grace, generosity and love throughout her life. The star of Pohutukawa will shine brightly this Matariki - twinkling in the sky like the twinkle in her eyes when she laughed- as she so often did. Arohanui Voi- may your spirit rise to join the stars and spirits of those you loved so dearly who passed before you.

I lived with Voi when I was boarding at the highschool in 2003. She was the most kind, I adopted her as my own best Grandma, I’ve my own little Hunter now too. She was the kindest, most loving. Her singing and piano in the lounge before bed will always bring sweet memories. I often look up to the hillside she used to live on and think of her when I go past. Much loved, glad she got to a wonderful age with family around her. Sophie and Family xxxx
