What a beautiful human. He made such a contribution to the PK community over the years. Teaching Turning Points with Pete was such an easy experience - he just made things more gentle. I know there will be others who put their hands up to come back on the next adventure with you Petey, but please do put me on the list. Travel well, and I am looking forward to the next time around...

It was a lovely service and great to be able to join online. Such a terrible loss, way too soon and the world is much poorer without Peter in it. As a mentor, friend and therapist he provided so much care, support, guidance and direction for me, at a particularly volatile, and really important junction in my life. I’ll so fondly remember his warmth and calmness, and just the sense of peace he provided in our sessions over many years. It really was the most rich and valuable hour of my week for so long, and helped shape me in so many ways.
My condolences to the whole extended family and huge network of friends. RIP Peter- you were a wonderful man with an amazing legacy you have left behind, clearly demonstrated by such a heartwarming service.

Dear Vasi, Simon, and all the Toothie family,
What a beautiful service, it was so lovely to hear all the stories and even online you could feel the love emanating from the room for the beautiful person that was Peter Tooth. He will be so missed by all and especially my brother, Bill. He has been such a wonderful friend, his strength, wisdom, non-judgmental guidance to him, to all of us really, will be a source of comfort for those who are left. And as was reflected in all those who spoke at this service, we can only aspire to be like Pete, to be selfless and kind in everything we do
.
Sending you a big, big hug Vasi,
Love Libby, Bill and the Stavrinos family (nee Hyman) xxx

Such great words today capturing Peter's rich life, exceptional qualities and positive impact on the lives of others.
I remember he was a legend during school days, cutting a glamourous figure for us girls in Susie's year. My brother told me last week of the immense respect Peter had among the boys at TAS for his leadership, sporting prowess, warm nature and pastoral care of the younger ones.
We shared sad duties later in life and he always conveyed strength and wisdom.
My deepest sympathy to you Vasi, Lucas, Michael, Simon, Ben and all family and friends of Peter - a huge loss, a remarkable legacy.
With love.

I send my deepest sympathy and love to Vasi and Peter's family. I have know Peter since he was a little boy living at the beautiful property, Wongala. So many happy times spent there with the Tooth family. Peter, over the years, has been such a wonderful son to Michael and brother to Susie, Nick and Simon. I feel blessed that I had a privilege of knowing Peter and sharing so many happy times with him. He will be sorely missed by all of us. I am very sad I was not able to join the family and friends of Peter today to celebrate his life. However, it was lovely to hear the messages of those who spoke so well and shared their experiences with Peter. I loved the camel story!!!

Peter was my landlord, which is very telling that through this relationship I'd feel compelled to reflect on our interactions and the impact he had when he was a landlord.
I always had a sense that he wanted the best for those around him and that he saw a larger point than the immediate interactions and what was being said. I do feel lucky to have had the few years with him and seeing him when I did.
It was a hard thing to hear of his passing and I wish his family the best.

So grateful to be able to join Petes tribute on line. It was deeply touching and I loved learning things about Pete that I did not know!
I met Pete and Vas as the organisers of the somatic training with Julie and Tony and was deeply touched by his kindness and steadfastness. Over the years would see him at Buddhist gatherings - always shining. A natural radiance. Made me smile just being met by his smile. I had to really negotiate to be allowed to join the training so joyously hold Vas and Pete responsible for me finding some of my deepest friendships that formed at the Stroud training and for meeting Tony and deepening my relationship with Julie.
Go well and happy finding the next beneficial birth Pete.
Much love to you Vasi, Lucas and all the family.
with much gratitude,
Zangmo

May you travel well dear Pete. Thank you for your friendship over so many years.
My heart goes out to Vasi and Lucas for such a sudden and unexpected loss. May time help with easing the immense loss of Pete's physical form knowing how much his love lives on within you.
I was very grateful to be able to be a part of his farewell online. So many stories of Pete and who he was - what an incredible life.

The first time I met Peter I was 22/23 yrs old. He was my group leader in a retreat we were doing.... it seems he never stopped being a leader in his beautiful humble way. All his achievements and the way he has touched so many people and made such a difference in the world make me feel so lucky to have known him.

I"m from I've been Pete and Vasi's housenate for almost 2 years and it was a gift to share that piece of my life under same same roof as such a kind, humble and simple man like Pete. I can't remember a day l where he was stressed or upset. My memories of him are of a happy guy making the world a better place by building a piece of heaven on his backyard, always running around and creating new tools and gadgets. It's been 4 years since I left Australia and came back to my country and I dreamed about visiting them and learning more about gardening and carpentry.... May he be in the presence of his teachers now. Lots of love to Vasi and Lucas.

Pete’s happy presence enjoying the sunshine & garden of my home & his heartfelt generosity & happiness alongside his beloved Vasi, both providing immeasurable loving & deeply appreciated support for a friend in need, at a time when I was in need of helpful, supportive friends, is my lovely imprinted memory of precious Pete.
‘A friend in need IS a friend in deed’ epitomises Pete
My heart goes out to Pete’s beloved son Lucas & family & especially to my dear, much-loved friend Vasi, Pete’s beloved ‘Bessie’ (his sweet nickname) as you traverse your grief of this very unexpected & still seemingly surreal transition.
I’m sure there are many family & friends to lovingly support Vasi & Lucas with happy, uplifting & wonderful memories of Pete’s light & love, friendship & wisdom & numerous ways he positively contributed to so many lives.
I know I’ve been supported, guided & helped by close loved ones who have passed on & my hope is that Pete’s beautiful beloveds Vasi & Lucas will experience & know the grace of the love of the extraordinary Pete & his spiritual upliftment forever more…

My heartfelt condolences to dear Vasi, Lucas, Peter’s family, friends and sangha community.
I met Peter through the dharma and he was a dear and treasured dharma brother. Peter pulsed with vitality and joyful intensity, whether he was talking about the dharma or life in general, working on any number of improvement jobs around Kamalashila or explaining his recent passion project to expand the composting toilet system at the centre. I am grateful for Peter’s kindness, warmth and generosity, and greatly valued our friendship over the last few years. With all the goodness and care in my heart, I wish Peter safe passage and hope our dharma paths cross again.

"Breathing in and out, I am aware of the fact that I am of the nature to die: I cannot escape dying. I am of the nature to grow old : I cannot escape old age. I am of the nature to get sick. Because I have a body and a mind I cannot avoid sickness.
Everything I cherish, treasure and cling to today I will have to abandon. The only thing I can take with me is the consequence of my karma. I cannot bring along with me anything else but the fruit of my thought, speech and action." -Thich Nhat Hanh.

In Armidale days Peter was the one we all looked up to, big brother of Nick. He was always fun and kind. Later I knew him as wise and brave too. He chose the road less traveled and the rest of us were richer for it.
He once did me a special kindness for which I’ll always be grateful. I can only imagine how many times over he did the same for how many other people. In this way he leaves a legacy that lives on in countless hearts.
Vale, Pete.
Love to Vasi, Luke, Jen and all the family.

To Vasi and all in Peter's family,
Peter's presence always was so vivid in the stories Julie would tell about her time in Australia with Vasi and Peter. I remember Peter's warmth, caring and curiosity, his genuine and good company. Peter's caring and meaningful conversations with Bruce about healing and the path forward impacted Bruce's life, and our life together since we wed.
Grateful to Peter for all he did to help us all find our way with kindness.
Holding you Vasi in my heart, wishing Peter well on his way, wishing all the family comfort.

Pete,
My first introduction to you was when Nicko and I became friends 34 years ago. You were his cheeky, sparkling, handsome big brother. The cool bloke everyone wanted to know. Always on the move, looking for adventure, particularly if there was a bit of mischief involved. The cheeky Tooth boys, Nicko and Pete, always going that bit further, pushing boundaries. You are back together again, plotting new chapters, I’m sure. You are a beautiful human being, and I will miss you.
Love Duges
Pete,
Although I didn’t know you well, your warmth, kindness and sense of fun were always on display, and it was clear you were loved by so many people who will miss you so much.

Pete was one of the most caring supportive people around - he was incredible for Nicko during his cancer journey - we used to joke the nurses knew him better than me - and has been amazing to Annabel, Sam and I since Nicko died. We will miss him terribly. He was wise, always someone to talk with; up for joyous experiences and just a great person to have in your corner. Wherever he is going….they are super lucky to have him. Love and condolences to the family at this difficult time.
Prince sings of losing his special friend Tracy, saying “those kind of cars don’t pass you every day”. Pete was one of those rare cars.
A man of wisdom and compassion, he was so generous and I’m sure we were all touched in some way by his helpfulness. His spirit of goodwill, his joy and curiosity for the mystery and wonder of life, were part of the wonder itself. These memories of him I keep close in my heart, as I go about my day. Thank you Pete.
Those who are familiar with ‘Downton Abbey’ will remember, following Carson’s retirement as butler at the Abbey, he was on one occasion called back out of retirement to assist with a Royal visit. When asked by the Earl what he was doing back at work, Carson replied “I go where I can be of greatest service, my Lord”.
I believe Pete has been called for greater service.
We will all miss him, and he would be the first to remind us that the nature of impermanence should not be cause for suffering. By way of comfort for this sudden loss of a precious thing, go out and add 2” of compost to the garden, and as you potter around there you will find him, amid the aloes and the luscious figs.
