My & Alan posted a condolence

One of our favourite memories of Grandpa is his story about when his wallet fell down the pit toilet at a Roadhouse somewhere in Alaska when he and Granny were on a holiday there. Grandpa got a short handled rake from the owner of the Roadhouse. He lay on his tummy and managed to pull the wallet out of the poo. The owners disinfected the wallet. Not sure about how it smelled after that. Grandpa threw it onto the floor of the hire car they had and said "That's where it's gonna stay!" It stayed there for the rest of the trip. This story has been the source of much laughter on many occasions.
From Alan: Thank you Grandpa for everything you tried to teach me. I wasn't always ready to learn but thanks for trying.
From My: Thank you for accepting me into your family. It means so much to me.
Thanks for all the good times and laughter we shared. We will miss you. Rest peacefully Grandpa.
Much love from Alan, My and the girls.

So many wonderful memories of childhood holidays at Ma's house at Ettalong Beach, weekend visits to the Boatshed at Brooklyn, holidays at the farm.
I remember walking with Dad up to Anne's shop, at Ettalong beach, to buy deliscious Rainbow Icecreams in a cone. There were several occasions I can recall Dad heading off to walk up the street at Ettalong, in pouring rain, Dad carrying the huge and very colourful beach umbrella.
Dad was my diving and snorkelling buddy too. Many great times shared diving at Terrigal Beach, often stopping in at the Boatshed for a visit on the way home. We'd get yummy fish and chips from a little kiosk at Brooklyn and go to Dick & Val's house to eat and visit for a while.
I remember Dad teaching me a couple of basics to look after my car when I first got my little yellow Mazda in 1976 (at age 17). He showed me how to check the oil, the tyre pressures, the coolant level for the radiator, and how to change a wheel if I ever had to. Thankfully, I still haven't had to. Thanks Dad.
So many wonderful and fun memories to treasure.
Love you Dad, Suzy 'Chicken' xxxx

When I think of Bill & Val I just smile, the memories immediately fill me with warmth, love & laughter. We met when Suzy & I became friends in high school in 1972 I felt so welcome in their home & was always greeted with a big smile & warm hug. When I think of Bill, one of my more immediate memories is of him sitting at the kitchen table in Kirby St watching Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner cartoons often laughing till he was wheezing! He always made me laugh & we quickly learned I had to be careful about when to sip on my cuppa lest I spray it over the table whilst laughing at one of Bills funnies!!! It was Bill who nicknamed me Maniac & even years later was more often than not greeted by Bill, Val & Sue with “G’day Maniac”
RIP Bill thank you for being part of my life, teaching me it was ok to laugh & not to take myself too seriously. Thank you for the love, laughter & memories I will cherish forever, love Maniac (aka Deb Rowe)
