Steve was a brother that everyone would yearn for, he was always kind, considerate and very generous. I always looked up to Steve, he was a true perfectionist in everything he did. If a job had to be done, he ensured it was done right, no half measures.
He had a warm personality, was always approachable caring and empathetic. His camaraderie and friendship were always highly valued.
We loved visiting Steve and Marie, we always had lots of fun and good times. Many a time Steve would be either tinkering in his workshop or building/welding something for someone. I spent a lot of time running around after him, cleaning up the garage and endeavouring to get the place in order. It did not really matter that it was always a mess as he generally knew where everything was but never complained about me cleaning up and in fact, I think he liked me doing some of his dirty work. It didn’t matter to me as I always loved spending time with Steve.
We probably did not do as much fishing together as we would have liked as the weather was not always kind but when we did, he always got the first catch and always caught about double what I caught. Never mind it was always good fun as usual great company.
Steve liked his tucker, I recall Steve used to say Anna was his favourite Sister in Law, but that was only to get her to make him lasagne and trifle and he always had 2 helpings – of both!
Steve started playing golf late in life and his passion grew and grew. He was so proud when he won and would send me photo of himself at the presentation and often, he just sent me photos of the golf balls he won. His passion ended up with him spending time at the club cleaning the ball washers and working in the pro shop. Later on, someone realised his engineering skills and he ended up doing repairs and maintenance on some of their equipment. Again, it was his desire to help others and reflects on his kindness and generosity.
Steve, we are all better for having known you. You have left a void in our lives and you will be sadly missed.
Rest in Peace Brother
