Lakey - you’ll be missed old mate. Or “ya old bastard” as we used to say… with your response always being something I’d love to write here but probably shouldn’t… it was definitely colourful, cheeky and full of… fun!!
You guys were a second family to us growing up, and stayed in our lives all the way through. I especially remember when you helped get our wedding ready… we drove around for hours talking shit & laughing. Both comparing why our respective dogs were better than the others. You proudly bragging that Smudge was way smarter than Zeeva could ever be…
You’re a legend, it’s an end of an era. But you’re cheeky legacy lives on and somehow your buildings still stand :)
sending love to Rosie, Mel, Sal and Ben… love and hugs from Sam, DD, Ozzie and Paysh…

Dear Rosie and All the Family,
We have been very shocked since we heard the very sad news of Tony's passing.
He was a great father-in-law to our son Laurence, who is married to our wonderful daughter-in-law, Sally ; and always a friendly and patient personality, who we'll remember forever.
Also, an impressive builder and designer, as well as a versatile entrepreneur.
God Bless him ; and May He Rest in Peace.
With all our love to You All.
Roger and Maura Pike.

Smiles are my memory of Tony. Always a member of the big colourful word and a absolute perfectionist of the building trade. Scaring even the most famous of architect assured. But a loyal loving and true friend to each and every person he met. My first meeting was my strongest memory. I was once told “Jesus don’t go near tony he will not like your personality (gay screamer) you will not get along”. Well I’m here to say we did get along from the very moment we met and he always had my back. In fact the big call is to say he was the only male figure in my life who I know truly loved me and respected me. I won’t ever forget the ol bugger as many won’t and he is etched in our hearts forever. Much love to the wild and wonderful Lakey tribe now and always. We are all in this together Big kisses. Xx

Dearest Rosie, Mel, Sal, Ben and family,
We’re so sorry and saddened with the loss of Tony. I have nothing but fond memories of all the times we’ve spent at your place and being in his company. Such a lovely fellow and friend to all us Hutcho’s.
The only time I can think of him getting upset with me was when I thought it might be a good idea to start calling him ‘Mr Lake’. He came up to me and said ‘what’s this Mr Lake business? It’s Tony. End of story. Still makes me laugh.
Plenty of great stories that shaped my childhood. We’ll all miss him.
Love and condolences, love Mel, Deon, Claudia and Lochie.

Dear Rosie and Family,
So sorry to hear about Lakey. He was a such a larrikin. I always had a soft spot for him and he always made me laugh out loud.
I think his last building project might have been our house in Budgong . He understood architecture and design and was always happiest building “outside the square”.
He will be sorely missed..one of the great characters.
Best wishes to all
karina seyffer ( née Kiteley).

Dear Rosie
So sad to the read the news on Lakey.
Lakey was the best builder I had ever worked for. When we were quoting one of the classic architectural designs we would talk late into the evening. He would get so engrossed and I am sure he could see every piece of work in his mind before he ever walked on site.
Lakey was a pleasure to work for, his buildings were challenging and he always challenged you for the best and he got it.
He was always up for a chat and time was never a enemy. A gentleman that loved being outside. His legacy in the buildings he built will live on. TLC….May he Rest In Peace in Cambewarra. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family. Love David and Jayne.

So sorry to hear this news Rosey. Tony's memory lives with me on a daily basis in the fabulous Home on the Hill which he built for me and Harriet 30 years ago. He was regarded by us both with great affection and admiration, as a skilled, honest, down to earth and good humoured "artist of construction".
I well remember our first meeting, many years before he became our builder and friend, shortly after we moved to the Shoalhaven. Harry and I would spend our weekends exploring the countryside around Nowra, wondering where we might settle. Our wanderings took us down Bell's lane, and then inadvertently up the (private) road leading to his homestead. Tony was down the drive on the bike in a flash, and if he didn't have a rifle with him, he certainly managed to turn us back with a salvo of colourful Aussie invective that left us in no doubt we were on private property. It was only later when we engaged him as our cheerful and affable builder, that we realised they were one and the same character.
His will be a character greatly missed and not easily forgotten.
Vale Lakey. Give our fond regards to Col when you see him. Davo
