I am sorry that I cannot be at the memorial service. While I have not seen Simon for many years, I remember him well as a strong, exhuberant and energetic young man. To hear of his passing at such an untimely age is shocking and makes me deeply sad.
There are no words to lessen the pain, but please know that my thoughts are with you all, particularly Patricia, Carolyn and Michael.
Mothers do not expect to bury their children. I know each of you gives support and strength to the other: hopefully, that will help you to weather this awful time.
